Sleepover at Grandma's

We slept over at grandmas house last night, here's Jackson in the cozy chair with Juno and his two new "dinoroars." The new dinosaurs were a lucky find by grandma and join his "mean therapod" and his "spiny back stegosaurus," he has a real herd now...lucky for us they all have to come with him everywhere:) By the way the new ones are a "two horned guy" and a "daddy one with a big belly"hmmmm....

More Leaves

There are so many leaves falling on my moms street...Jackson is just having so much fun playing in them...He grabbed the rake yesterday to rake more into a pile, very funny watching him try to handle the "big guy rake."

Fall Leaves

Grandmas street is lined with maple trees...excellent for leaf piles and general fallish good times. Jackson hasn't experienced this yet, as all we have in our yard are pine trees. Grandma is the good sport in the photos letting the kids bury her, unbury, rebury...:) Juno was less convinced that getting buried alive in leaves was a good idea; she decide to just watch, once she figured out what Jackson had in store for her.

Funnel Cakes

Grandma showed Jackson how to make funnel cakes yesterday...a yummy favorite from my own childhood. He was super excited to get to stand up at the real stove and help grandma...and we did manage to complete the experience with absolutely no injuries...success!!
Jacksons job was putting the powdered sugar on the funnel cakes after they came out of the skillet...as you can see it was quite an involved job, and by the time he was done there was powdered sugar on most surfaces in the kitchen.

And all this cake making reminds me of one of Jacksons favorite books...In the Night Kitchen, by Maurice Sendak.
"...where the bakers who bake till the dawn
so we can have cake in the morn
mixed Mickey in batter, chanting:
milk in the batter! milk in the batter!
stir it! scrape it! make it! bake it!
And they put that batter up to bake a delicious Mickey cake.
But right in the middle of the steaming and the making and the smelling and the baking,
Mickey poked through and said: I'm not the milk and the milks not me! I'm Mickey!

Boxers, Again

Jackson is requesting lots of pictures these days...of him and his "best friends." I think he is trying to document the new puppy being part of the family so that I can't change my mind and sell her instead of keep her. He's getting too smart for me...

Paper,Scissors,Glue

It was craft time at grandmas house today. Lots of old magazines to cut up, paper, a bowl of homemade glue (wow grandma!!) and voila, Jackson entertainment. He likes to "fix" the pictures of people in the magazines, giving them bandages with scraps of paper and glue.

Juno

We just love our Juno boxer dog!!

Boxers, Dads and Dinosaurs

Here are some pictures of Jackson, Dad, his dinosaur and his "new best friend" as he requested.

First Snow

Well, here it is. The first snow of the year...can't believe it's already that time. Jackson, of course, is thrilled. He couldn't even wait to get out of his pajamas this morning to go out and see it, just threw on galoshes and a coat and out he went.
The little striped beast in the pictures with him is the boxer puppy he has been dragging home from the pet store every night, trying to convince me that we need to keep her...she is "my best friend mom..."etc.etc. I think loving boxers is genetic or something, he is very prone to falling in love with them.

Like Tony Hawk

Jackson decided this summer that he needed a skateboard, like his Uncle Silas. He says, "I'm Tony Hawk, watch my cool tricks":) He actually doesn't move around on it much yet (don't worry, when he actually starts pushing around, he'll be wearing a helmut.) just stands on it and hops on and off, but he thinks he pretty cool stuff.

Park

There is a nice park right down the street from my moms house. It runs all along the river and is so well planted that you wouldn't even know you are right in the middle of town most the time. We took Jackson down today to burn off some of his boy energy by doing some running and throwing rocks in the water and generally...well acting like a little boy.
